Adrift

You ask me how long I have been at sea, adrift

How long I have been waiting to wash up, wet

on golden shores.

I say I have left land, spread sails,

Tasted salt on skin and let rolling waves take me further towards my horizon,

closer now

than ever before.

All (wo)men are created equal

You say
that women never march
on your office,
and demand more pay.

You say it’s just the men,
that you hear it from them
time and time again.

I say why wait to be asked?
Get off your white, well-paid
ass and celebrate these fine
ladies,
let them have better pay-days.
The BBC and their wages are locked
tight to
the middle ages.
Just because they wear a dress
doesn’t mean
you should value them less…
