Eat sleep work repeat
No life for the living
Eat sleep work repeat
The drudge unforgiving
Eat sleep work repeat
Dine in on your soul
Eat sleep work repeat
Dreams swallowed whole
Eat sleep work repeat
Clock in nine to five
Eat sleep work repeat
You’re barely alive
Eat sleep work repeat
You thought there’d be more
Eat sleep work repeat
Now just numb to the core

Now I’m super jealous of your working hours! I left the house at 7.30am, got back this eve at 8.30pm. Ugh. I may well rise to your poem challenge. Possibly at the weekend though, when I have more hours in the day….!

Yes, I agree on both counts! I haven’t written a song for many years though…you may have inspired me to have another go…

It is remarkable how many songs Carol King wrote for others which became spectacular hits for those people.
