The many uses of Ladycat

You come home
After an evening who knows where,
With your small cat half smile
And emerald eyes half shut
And purr as loud as a bee
Humming next to my ear
As your tiny dancing tiger paws
Pad the knots
Out of my thighs and calves then
You tuck tourself tiny
All spots and stripes
And settle down
To warm my feet up
If only I could teach
You to put the kettle on.
