The night before the wedding night

i.
Giddy excitement.
Painted nails opening
Chilled champagne.
Just a sip before bed,
Soft bubbles popping on tounge,
Popping like tomorrow’s fireworks.

ii.
Force down fear.
Lie in quiet dark.
Control breathing.
Roll name on tounge,
Of the husband,
A stranger before tomorrow.

iii.
It’s legal.
Suits hanging, pressed.
Wishing for quick, sweet sleep
And a sunny morning.
Finally.
So much love tomorrow.
